St Ives has many places to eat and drink, catering for a range of tastes from simple pub grub to international cuisine.

Many restaurants specialise in seafood, which is a particular local speciality. There are many other options including traditional Cornish, Italian, Mexican, Chinese and Indian food.

During the summer season, which in St Ives starts from the end of May, most places get busy so we'd strongly advise you to book in advance.

One of St Ives longest established restaurants popular with both locals and visitors.

As the name suggests they specialise in serving local seafood, but their extensive menu also includes meat and vegetarian dishes. Children are welcome and the restaurant has a separate menu for them.

Service is always friendly and unfussy and this is one of my personal favourites.

They are located (appropriately) on Fish Street a short distance from the harbour.

The Mermaid Seafood Restaurant

A modern and stylish restaurant that serves a selection of fresh local fish & shellfish, prime Cornish meats & free range poultry. 

A feature of this restaurant is that you can choose exactly what you want from the chill cabinets in the dining room, You can then tell them how you would like it cooked and what sauce you'd like.

One cabinet has a range of fresh fish and seafood, the other a range of Cornish meats. Vegetarian dishes are also available.

TripAdvisor is one of the biggest travel sites on the Net and features reviews and ratings from thousands of "real" people.

Some of the comments need to be treated with a touch of scepticism. But for most places there are enough reviews, plus and overall rating, to help you to decide where you would like to eat.
