St Ives Cornwall - Restaurants - Cafés

St Ives has many places to eat and drink, catering for a range of tastes from simple pub grub to "fine dining".

Many restaurants specialise in seafood, which is a particular local speciality. There are many other options including traditional Cornish, Italian, Mexican, Chinese and Indian food.

During the summer season, which in St Ives starts from the end of May, most restaurants get busy so we'd strongly advise you to book in advance.

Most of the pubs serve food and several do a Sunday carvery.

There are any number of places offering takeaway food including fish and chips, Chinese, Indian and Mexican.

Below is just a selection of places that have websites.

Please do email or send in details of your place if you would like to be listed here.

The Halsetown Inn

Proud to be Cornwall’s first & only pie pub!

The Halsetown Inn can be found situated in the sleepy hamlet of Halsetown, just a mile from the hustle and bustle of St Ives. A perfect place to relax after a summer’s day on the beach or to warm your cockles beside the wood burner after a wild wintry walk on the cliffs or moorland. You can get there on foot or by road, there is ample parking.

The menu offers delicious award-winning handmade pies crafted by the Pieminister himself, making the Halsetown very proud to be the only pie pub in Cornwall! In addition there is the not-so-pie menu with traditional pub dishes.

They also serve a hugely popular Sunday roast with all the trimmings …. using only the best locally sourced meat from Trevarthen’s Butchers.

Step up to the well stocked bar for foaming Cornish ales, pints of lovely lager and a reasonably priced selection of interesting wines along with some tempting soft treats for drivers.

Everyone aims to make your visit enjoyable and will go the extra mile to help make you feel at home. Canine companions are very welcome as are children just as long as they don’t bite!

The Mex St Ives

One of the longest established restaurants in St Ives - The Mex serves a range of Mexican themed food and drink. Also a range of simpler dishes such as grilled steak or chicken. Vegetarians, vegans and those on special diets are well catered for.

One of the best value places to eat out in town, they also do takeaways. A friendly family run place where service is informal and friendly, with none of the pretension that you may find in some other restaurants.

There is a childrens menu with lots of their favourites. Young guests are most welcome - this is a child-friendly restaurant.

All food is cooked fresh to order and served as you like it. The chefs are entirely flexible - if you don't see what you want on the menu just ask.

Good food, well cooked and served in a personal way at sensible prices.

Open from 5.30 pm till late every evening all year round. Booking is strongly recommended.

You'll find menus, how to book and more information on their website.

Seagrass

A stylish restaurant located on Fish Street and just a few metres from Harbour Beach

Rated one of the best restaurants in St Ives on TripAdvisor.

Focused on only using the best seasonal and local produce, Head Chef Lee Groves (semi finalist of Masterchef The Professionals 2010) has created a range of amazing dishes to excite the palate and the eye.

Among the highlights on the menu will be Lee's lime posset with caramelised pineapple and basil cream, which received high praise from judges Gregg Wallace and Michel Roux Jr. in the semi-final of Masterchef : The Professionals in October 2010.

Everything is going to be fresh and, all homemade - from ice cream and truffles to fresh bread each day and all British, though not necessarily all local produce. Using the best ingredients the dishes will be classics with a modern twist.

Seagrass is open during the day for lunch and bar tapas. Open every evening for dinner.

Reservations are recommended - visit their website to get in touch and for more information.
